All about Rhonda…

Rhonda Laurel is a contemporary romance writer whose two great loves are writing and landscape photography. She uses both as a vehicle to convey the complexity of the human spirit and the beauty of the world around her. Her writing career has spanned two decades but has recently gained momentum in 2012 with her debut novella Ebb Tide.

Contemporary, multicultural/interracial romance is her ‘thing’ in the form of novellas and novels, but the author also writes poetry, inspirational quotes, designs greeting cards and the occasional essay. Ebb Tide, For the Love of the Game and Masquerade were all released in 2012. Shutter releases February 2013. Star Crossed and Memories of You are also scheduled for 2013. The author is happily building her backlist.

1. How did you come up with the idea for your current story?

Antonio is a character that was introduced in another novel titled Duality of Love.

2. Tell us about your writing process. Do you outline, or are you more of a seat of your pants type of a writer?

I’ve tried every method.  Sometimes I write first, outline later.  Lately I’ve tried to make my outline and compose the synopsis, then write.

3. What is your favorite scene in the book? Why? 

One of my favorites is a dinner party scene where Antonio and Lucy engage in a heated debate.  Their relationship shifts after that night.

4. What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone that wants to get into writing?

Write about what you love and feel most passionate about.

5. Can you share with us something off your bucket list?

I’d like to visit and photograph every state in the US.

6. What do you have in store next for your readers?

I have Memories of You and Star Crossed releasing soon.  I hope to release MVP, the sequel to For the Love of the Game, very soon.
