Today I’m welcoming Mary Wehr, author of A Heart’s Endeavor, an erotic contemporary love story that stars a man in uniform. Thank you for stopping by, Mary!

All about Mary…

I grew up in Minersville, a small town in Pennsylvania. I have four brothers. My dad passed away, but I’m lucky enough to still have my mom. My first full time job was in a pen factory. That’s where I met the love of my life.

I’ve been reading romance novels since I was twelve years old. Harlequin was always my favorite. I often thought about writing my own story, but like some new writers I feared rejection so I set my dream aside.

My husband and I raised a beautiful, very independent daughter.

Time passed quickly. Now, at fifty-one I’ve finally written my own story. Beachwalk Press is my publisher.

  1. Tell us about your writing process. Do you outline, or are you more of a seat of your pants type of a writer?
My first book was more by the seat of my pants. I didn’t know where I was making my mistakes or if I was making any at all. I was lucky enough to find Beachwalkpress. Pamela gave me an option. If I wanted to learn the right way to write she’d help me. If I would rather send my story elsewhere then she understood. How could I turn down such an offer in this busy world of publishing? Pamela is one awesome woman. My second story I put to good use what I learned. I outlined my story first and labeled each scene with whose point of view I was going to use. POV is my biggest problem, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. 🙂
  2. What is your most interesting writing quirk?
I need to hear some kind of noise whether it’s the radio or television. If it’s too quiet I can’t think. I know, it sounds weird.
  3. Who is the one author that you would love to meet someday and why?
I would love to meet Maya Banks. Her books are fantastic. LOL, maybe if I shook her hand some of her talent might pass on to me.
  4. What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone that wants to get into writing?
Keep at it and don’t give up. Believe me I know how hard it is to want something so bad and all you get is rejection. Rejection hurts no doubt about it. All it takes is one editor to look at your work and see a story somewhere in that pile of words. That’s what happened to me.
  5. How do you spend your free time?
I spend my free time by spoiling my pets. I love animals.
  6. Do you have a favorite place to go and unwind?
Walking helps me unwind and sitting outside watching the wildlife.
  7. What do you have in store next for your readers?
My next story is an erotic m/f/m short. I just submitted it to my publisher. I’m waiting on an answer. LOL, fingers are crossed.
  8. Is there anything else you’d like to share with your readers?
I’d like to thank all readers. Without readers there would be no point in writing.

AHeartsEndeavor_MediumA Heart’s Endeavor

There are times when it’s best to allow your heart to overrule your head.

Being diagnosed with depression not only messed up Melanie Manning’s life, but her marriage as well. Her husband made it very clear that he considered her “damaged goods” and he didn’t have time to coddle a mentally ill wife. After his sudden death, Melanie knew she was destined to be alone. Loneliness sounded a hell of a lot better than exposing her illness to another man. Her self-esteem couldn’t survive another blow.

When state trooper Jack Horan meets Melanie, the attraction is immediate. Her deep blue eyes make him weak in the knees, but those eyes also hold a hint of sadness. Jack is determined to wipe away her pain, but how can he do that when Melanie refuses to let him get close to her?

Can Melanie learn to face her fears and trust her heart in the hands of another man?

Content Warning: Some strong language, spanking, and sex play with a piece of fruit wielded by a hot guy in uniform.
