Hello, Readers!

I have Advanced Release Copies (ARCs) available in exchange for an honest review on Amazon and Goodreads. If you enjoy domestic dramas and young adult novels, The Tarnished Son is for you.

The Tarnished Son

“This is a nice, quiet town with good people. Things like that don’t happen around here.”

But they do.

In THE TARNISHED SON, a tourist’s death, an alluring young teacher, a father’s carnal desires, and a stepdaughter’s vendetta ultimately destroy a village dynasty.

The respected Clark family has governed Williams Bay since 1837. On a hot August day, seventeen-year-old Liam causes a tragic boating accident. What happens next—infidelity, drugs, theft, and more—deepens long-hidden cracks in the family’s façade, exposing their secrets and tarnishing their golden image.

Meet the family:

William Sr., the grandfather who rules the family and the village with an iron fist

Hank, the father who lets temptations lead him on a path of self-destruction

Liam, the shining son who gets away with everything

Rose, the stepdaughter who has had enough and pushes the whole house down

Grab some popcorn and watch the destruction unfold in Elizabeth McKenna’s unpredictable family drama!

Read Chapter 1

Note: I write both clean and naughty novels. The Tarnished Son is a naughty one. It contains mild profanity (no F-bombs), drug use, infidelity, and sexually suggestive scenes (nothing graphic).

Praise for The Tarnished Son

“I expected this book to take me a couple days, but I could not put it down…This book is all about conflict—and how each character handles it…Perhaps there are other similar premises, but the setting of the book, the accident on the lake, the family structure, and power stood on their own. This book was unique because of its characters.” ~ USA TODAY bestselling author Maureen A. Miller

“I could not guess where the story was going, and I found the plot to be interesting and dramatic, but also believable.” ~ Lacy Challe, beta reader

“The book caught my attention really quick, and I found myself invested in the story right away.” ~ Kathleen Fossum, beta reader

In Sedona’s red rock canyons, a former reporter must piece together her shattered memories in time to stop a killer in this cat-and-mouse thriller, perfect for fans of CJ Box and Anne Hillerman.

After a disastrous mistake ended her career as a crime reporter, Del Cooper returns to Sedona and takes a gig with a down-on-its-luck tour company while she rebuilds her life. Her peaceful small-town escape ends when, hiking in a remote red rock canyon, she finds the broken body of a murdered man.

At first, she believes the murder is connected to a proposed land trade that will pave the way for a luxury development on the edge of town, but it seems money isn’t the killer’s only motive. As she digs deeper, she uncovers the small town’s darkest secrets, all leading her to Lee Ranch, a former filming location for Western movies. Two women disappear after Del interviews them, and rumors begin to spin faster than Sedona’s famed energy vortexes. But she knows the truth: Someone is watching her from the shadows.

About Kathleen Bryant

Kathleen Bryant turned her boots-first exploration of the West’s landscapes and cultures into a career as a travel writer and novelist. Her publishing credits include romance novels, travel guides, magazine articles, an award-winning children’s picture book, and a cookbook highlighting National Parks.
